Maren McGowan
MSW, LCSW
Maren (pronouns she/her/hers) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of North Carolina. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a Masters of Social Work from North Carolina State University. She has worked with young children, adolescents, teenagers, parents and families.
Maren is trained in Eco-Systemic Family Therapy, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy and is well versed in early childhood development, parenting styles, emotion coaching, attachment theory and the six areas of family functioning. She is passionate about early intervention for young children and establishing/encouraging secure attachment between children and their caregivers in order to increase child potential for successful and healthy relationships in adulthood.
Maren has supported children with behavioral concerns in the home, school and community settings. She is experienced working with children adjusting to change; whether that be a new town, school, home, or parental divorce and separation. When working with adolescents and teenagers, Maren encourages parental involvement. She values creating a safe environment for family units to understand their negative interaction cycles that restrict healthy and effective communication and problem solving.
In her free time, Maren enjoys spending time with friends and family, hiking with her dogs, checking in on her fantasy football teams, and training for her upcoming athletic/exercise competitions.
